New Student Information—Fall 2009

Before Your Arrival

A few items you should take care of before your arrival on campus:

1.    Finalize housing arrangements

Students are expected to complete their housing arrangements before orientation begins. Students have the option of living in University housing (dormitory or apartment) or private housing on or off campus.

Students should visit the University Housing web site for more information.

If students have questions or need assistance with housing, please contact the MSPE Office. The staff will be happy to assist you.

2.   Complete McKinley Health Center forms

These forms must be completed and signed by your physician. You will not be allowed to register for courses until these forms are on file at McKinley. If you have questions, please visit the web site or contact McKinley Health Center.

3.   Work Eligibility Letter

For DS-2019/J1 visa holders only, you are required to have a letter from your sponsor stating that you are eligible to work in the US (whether you plan to or not). This letter is required to apply for a permanent social security number. It is highly recommended that you request this letter before you leave.

4.   Billing Authorization Letter

For students sponsored by an outside agency that is to be directly billed for tuition and fees, a billing authorization letter must be received in the student financial services office before you will be allowed to register for courses. It is highly advisable that you secure this letter before you arrive on campus. Please check the USFSCO web site for letter criteria and contact information.

5.   Net ID and email account

Students should receive an email with instructions on how to set up their University Network Identification (NetID) and email account. If you have not received this email, please contact the MSPE office.

Using your University ID Number (UIN) provided in your admission email from the University, go to the NetID Claiming site to claim your NetID. Your NetID allows you to set up your Enterprise ID and password, email account, and many other new student services.

6.   Bring suitable attire

Students will participate in enrichment activities throughout the year and are required to wear professional business attire. Students may instead wear their native apparel, and are highly encouraged to do so.
